Madhura Naranga Movie Review

Madhura Naranga is a good love story between an Indian driver and a Sri Lankan refugee in Sharja. The story based on a true incident is written by Nishad Koya and Salam Kottakkal. It is well directed by Sugeeth.

Jeevan ( Kunchacko Boban) is a taxi driver in Sharja who live with Salim (Biju Menon) and Kumar (Neeraj Madhav). Unexpectedly Tamara a Tamil refugee from Sri Lanka come into the life of Jeevan and his friends. She ran into Jeevan’s car; later he finds out that she was on the run from gangs of whose leader she had to hit on head. The trio decides to give refuge to the helpless girl who had lost her family during civil war and now on pursuit in a foreign land.

Even though they realised that she is a burden on the very first day, they decided not to turn her up to Police. To shelter her they take many steps. Series of incidents lead Jeevan and Tamara very close to each other.

Eventually Tamara becomes pregnant and it is once again a test for the couple and friends as she doesn’t have neither pathakka nor passport.

With the help of Malayalis in gulf the couple keep their life going. And anorher unexpected event change the course of all the incidents. And slowly you get to know why Jeevan and Salim is on a search for Tamara in another country – shown in opening sequence.

Madhura Naranga is not only a love story between two people in diaspora but also a story of friendship and human goodness. Kunchacko Boban and Binu Menon once again prove that they are the best friends duo in the industry at least for recent times. They are well supported by Neeraj Madhav and others. The heroine Parvathy Ratheesh have a good screen presence but have plenty of scope for improvement in her acting.

The technical perfection of the movie was a surprise for me. Visuals captured by Faisal Ali and edited by V Saajan are simply amazing. Which is enhaced by the music by
Sreejith -Sachin. The locations were also just perfect.

Even though it’s not non stop comedy, Madhura Naranga is worth watching in this season.
