Acha din movie review

Acha Din is the first Malayalam movie which makes a north indian migrant the main character. It is written by Vijeesh A C and directed by G Marthandan. Movie is produced by S George.

Durga Prasad ( Mammootty) is a migrant from Jharkhand. He and his wife Sheetal had to flee their native land because their marriage was not acceptable for the family and society. Durga have undertaken all kind of jobs to feed his wife and now is a sweeper in the big Mall of Kochi.

He have very few friends and government and police is also not friendly towards this migrant worker. Durga’s wife Sheetal is pregnant bringing an end to the couple’s two decade long wait. Unfortunately the doctors go on a strike on Sheetal’s delivery date. Pushing Durga Prasad to a private hospital and hence need of some quick cash.

The search for money lead Durga to Muneer ( Padmaraj Ratheesh ), whom he meet on pure accident. Durga not only get money from Muneer but also get entangled with much more than that. The unexpected turn arounds set up Durga against Muneer. Rest of the movie is mind game between them, while police roam around playing fools.

Even though movie deals with a relevant theme and tell about migrant workers for the first time; that wont make Acha Din a success. Most of the things in this movie is just predictable. Villains are too weak in acting as well as character on story board. Camera work by Pradeep is far from impressive. And movie use plenty of vfx even to show mice and is easily recognisable.

Heroine has almost nothing to do. And Mammootty didn’t come up with a North Indian accent like he for Rajamanikyam. And long list of cast was an unnecessary addition. And Mammootty is too fair for a Jharkhand worker .

Go and watch this movie, ONLY if you are a die hard Mammootty fan.
