Kumbasaram Malayalam Movie Review

Kumbasaram is a thriller written and directed by Aneesh Anwar and produced by Niyas Ismail.

Kumbasaram focuses on the emotional turmoil in the life of Alby (Jayasurya) an auto driver. And the movie begins as a confession of Alby to someone anonymous.

Alby who hails from a family of lower social strata fell in love with Meera ( Honey Rose) who is from a rich Hindu family. Meera left her acting career and family back to live with Alby. The couple have a son Jeery (Akash). Who is a pretty talented artist.

Unfortunately Jerry was diagnosed with cancer. This turns the life of Jerry and his parents upside down.

Alby and Meera struggle to meet the expenses of Jerry’s medications.

In the meanwhile Jerry goes back to school only to collapse on the same day. Rasool his best friend was there to help him all the way. But Jerry didn’t withstood the bullies.

Desperate to find money Meera advertise in a newspaper for help. Next day Alby received a late night call from one Paul Varghese to meet him up in a bar. Paul Varghese offer him more than enough money for the operation of the Child. Provided Alby eliminate his business rival.

As a man of honour Alby hesitates to take up the job. But the thoughts of losing his own son and cries of his wife Meera prompted him to rethink. Finally Jerry sets out to do it.

But the identity of his prey change his life like never before.

Rest of the movie show you the fight by Alby to clean up the mess he created as well as save the life of his child. He also start to search for the true identity of Paul Varghese.

Storyline of the movie have all the essentials for a thriller, but somewhere down the line written lost the craft to transfer it to dialogues and screenplay. And you got to pay special attention to avoid clichés – which are just exposed by Chirakodinja Kinavukal very recently.

Cinematographer Alby and editor Ranjith Touchriver did a spectacular show to present you with some best of the visuals in this season.

Even though the lyrics don’t get stuck in mind Vishnu Mohan Sithara did impress with music. All the cast did justice to their roles. Child artists like Gaurav show immense talent and are future prospects for the Malayalam film industry.

Kumbasaram is watchable but won’t surprise you with any unexpected twist.
