Varsham Malayalam Movie Review

Varsham Malayalam Movie Review

Varsham is an exceptional movie written and directed by Ranjith Sankar about a man who make biggest set back in his life into the biggest stepping stone. Produced by Mammootty and Ranjith Sankar.

Venu(Mammootty) is a gulf returnee running a non banking financial institution. He is a true businessman with perfect blend of tactics and kindness. Nandini (Asha Sarath) is a perfect wife for him, a typical house wife who sacrificed her job for the family. Both are loving parents to their only son Anuttan (Prajwal Prasad ). But that doesn’t mean that they play fair with neighbours like Sambhu sir (Sunil Sukhada) and Omana (Sajitha Madathil). Venu and wife don’t even bother to use words that can make others bleed. As any urban nuclear family even this one is hard on their son due to pressure of expectations. Mamta Mohandas’s character Jayasree is more than just a doctor to the family.

An unexpected event turn the course of this wealthy family. Which used to be focused only into itself. And this new change of looking around creates enemies around Venu who were his former friends.

And the movie is all about how Venu continue his struggle against former friends and make changes in his small ways. You will also witness a bigger raw of cast for the movie, which is unusual these days to tell an urban story.

As the title hints there may be a ‘Varsham’ of tears as you watch the movie. If you take it serious it may even lead you to Catharsis- a thorough transformation. And don’t expect any surprises in this movie which is shot in steady tempo.

The emotional scenes are well supported by the music by Bijibal. Lyrics by Santhosh Varma and Jayageetha are soul stirring with good music. Cinematography by Manoj Pillai is also just excellent he was successful in capturing wonderful performances by Mammukka as well as Asha Sarath. The performances were augmented with suitable make up by Sreejith Guruvayoor. Editing is also upto the mark.

Story, screenplay, dialogues, and direction by Ranjith Sankar are good enough to engage you for the duration of the film.

This is another do good feel good movie from Mammootty. If you love to watch him play a good role, watch this movie.

And I am sure many teenagers would love to watch this one with their parents.
