Oru vadakkan selfie movie review
Everyone identifies with the story, spontaneous situations and jokes in the movie.
Umesh (Nivin Pauly) is an ex- engineering student; a real supplykkuttan who hail from a sleepy village in north kerala. He returns home to find that the world has evolved and its difficult to live in his village. A situation almost every young graduate in Kerala will attest. Shaji ( Aju Varghese) is childhood friend of Umesh. He is one great support to Umesh in times of despair as well as Thankamma (Neeraj Madhav ) who is a bus diver- star among kids. Daisy ( Manjima Mohan ) is the daughter of Umesh’s new neighbour.
Umesh unable to find success in any normal way decides to be a movie director. But even his dreams to go viral back fires in all possible ways. Finally failed in all possible ways desperate Umesh set out to Chennai. On the train he find Daisy who is on her way to Chennai for an interview. Without her permission or knowledge he take a selfie and sent it to Shaji.
By the time he realised that movie making is not his cup of tea the selfie he took had changed his life in unprecedented way. On his return to village he is pushed back to Chennai with his friend Shaji. They get know Jack Tracker ( Vineeth) a private ditactive. The trio set out with Daisy on a journey that will bring more twists in the life of each one of them.
The movie present the current youth culture. The good and bad alike; at the same time avoid clichés to the maximum. This one reminded me of the movie Friends. First half full of laughter. Second half with comedy and melodrama.
Manjima Menon along with the Nivin, Aju and Vineeth put up a good performance.
Story is excellent as well as the direction. Music by Shaan Rahman is just superb.
Jomon T. John and Ranjan Abraham present you some very beautiful visuals. Graphic insertion in the movie are also one of the best in the genre.
Go with your friends and laugh out loud. And don’t forget to take the selfie in front of the poster- just like we did.
