Life of Josutty Movie Review

Life of Josutty Movie Review

Life of Josutty is the Dileep starrer realistic movie directed by Jeethu Joseph director of Drishyam. Life of Josutty may not meet the high expectations from the hit director. Story is written by Jayalal Menon, who is also one of the producers. Screen play and dialogues are by Rajesh Varma.

Josutty as the promos say is a young man with excellent cooking skills living in a village in Idukki. Brought up in strong Christian family he is a man of virtues, even when good and evil battle within himself. At very young age like any pious boy he also wanted to be a priest. Which was later modified because of decisive influence and attraction by his neighbour girl Jessymol. Josutty was very much influenced by the words and life of his father. He was also highly motivated to live for his family.

Josutty and friend Geevarghese were successful in returning many proposals for Jessymol. Yet because of Josutty’s financial situation he had to forget Jessymol who was ready to go with him and marry Rose who is a nurse in New Zealand.

Josutty married Rose in order to come out of his financial situations. Whereas Rose was ready to marry Josutty for she had to divorce her previous husband for he was a mental patient. Rose left to New Zealand the very same day of their marriage.

Soon after the marriage Josutty leaves his family and friends to join Rose in New Zealand. There Rose receives him with pleasure. But they stay in two rooms in same house. With both having their own secrets Josutty continue trying to impress his wife with his cooking skills and care.

Josutty finds great relief in his new found friend Devassy. They share lots time together. Soon Josutty had to encounter harsher realities of life and decide to fight them. This forms the remaining plot.

First half of the movie is very slow and most of the attempted jokes won’t make you laugh. Second half will give some tight moments in the story but as the tag line goes the movie with out any twists and suspense. Hence a you may not like it. Only good about the movie is that it is a real portrait of life of many NRIs and youngsters today.

Ravi Chandran did some bold experiments with camera even though many were unnecessary for this kind of a plot. Yet there are few frames that will stick to your mind. Music by Anil and lyrics by Santhosh Varma are truly soul stirring.

You may watch this movie for the good performance of Dileep and other actors. And some social commitment subtly shown in the film.
