Kohinoor Malayalam Movie Review

Kohinoor is a cat and mouse game between two groups of thieves and police set in The backdrop of the year 1988. This movie is written by Salil Menon and Ranjeet Kamala Sankar and directed by Vijay Vinod.

Opening sequence show Haider ( Indrajith) in Mumbai underworld where he didn’t have a great success. Then he shifts to Kerala in order to make mine and take vengeance. Haider recruits two local thieves Freddy( Vinay fort) and Jose ( Chemban Vinod). Freddy goes on to contact Aandykunju who is an expert in locker breaking.

Louis and Aandykunju are thick friends and are involved in many smuggling attempts even involving international clients. As the story goes Aandykunju takes the job from Freddy to break in to Kohinoor textiles – which is in fact just a means of smuggling diamonds internationally.

Haider and Freddy make a plan to rob the diamonds. Louis who is just sharper than others make a parallel plan along with Aandykunju who is part of all.

In mean while Louis falls in love with Daisy ( Aparna Vinod) who is a staff in the same textile showroom. After one failed attempt to rob the textiles the gangs decide to rob it on Christmas day afternoon 1988.

Unexpected twists make the story more fun filled. The melodies and most of jokes are entertaining. Even though the plot lags at some points you can still keep watching and enjoy the cat and mouse game at the end.

Age old police and thief story. But enjoyable with nostalgia.
