Kanthari malayalam movie review

Kanthari malayalam movie review

Kanthari is a women centric movie starring Rachana Narayanankutty and Sekhar Menon in lead roles. The movie which talks about Kanthari a thief is written and directed by Ajmal.

Kanthari aka Rani (Rachana Narayanankutty) is a petty thief. She is a dare devil in company with Oola Rocky another local thief.

Even though this street girl was raised by a bunch of prostitutes, she put high value for chastity.

Amir (Sekhar) is a rich brat who struggles with his over weight. He come across Rani in many of her adventures. He is also in search of his search of right life partner, yet without success thanks to his weight.

Rani lives in a slum and most of the girls there are in danger of falling into wrong hands.

Just before the interval you get to see a murder scene. Which is not followed up for the rest of the movie. And you get the story behind that only towards the end of the movie.

Even though a socially relevant theme this movie is made without any imagination and craft in story telling.

Rachana Narayanankutty put up a good performance. Most other characters including Sekhar don’t have much to do other than portray clichés characters and deliver typical dialogues.

And many places writer is visibly biased in naming good characters and villains. And still it remains unclear to me, what did the initial portrayal of many characters really meant.

Watchable only for good acting by Rachana. And music by Arun Choudhary.
