I Tamil Movie Review

I Tamil Movie Review

I: Amazing Vikram; Average Shankar.

I: The romantic action thriller written by Shankar and Subha and directed by Shankar is a feast for the eyes and ears. 188 minutes long modern beauty and beast movie gives some exciting moments mixed with usual Tamil cinema stuff. This mammoth size movie is produced by V. Ravichandran and D. Ramesh Babu.

Vikram put up a fantastic show as Lingesan/Lee a body builder who eventually becomes a super model. Amy Jackson who eaasay the role of Diya, the model who changes Lingesan’s with a dramatic effect.

Just like many Tamil movies I also begin with the life of a hero of humble beginnings and a heroine who is up above. Lingesan is a hard core fan of Diya. On whose request Lingesan drop his Mr. India dreams and turn to be Lee – a model.

The couple fall in love during their first shoot for i- perfumes in China. Lee’s amazing success and his love invite lot of enemies into his life. Who turn him into a deformed hunchback losing all the beauty of his body.

The movie shows how he realises after initial despair that his deformity is not hereditary but he was infected by I virus and that too by one of the least expected persons. Then he take revenge of villains one after another. Also we see his attempts to reunite with Diya his former love.

Foreign studios played a great role behind the excellent art works both digital and real.
The visual effects were designed by V. Srinivas Mohan through Rising Sun Pictures. Weta Workshop had worked on the digital and prosthetic make up and background arts for the film. Prosthetic make up is not limited to Vikram’s hunchback. And they did a marvellous job which play a very crucial job behind the success of the movie.

Shankar just tried to recreate another Anniyan. Even though I looks solid at Box Office, movie reminds you about Anniyan more than just once; Let is be series of inflicting pain on villains or even some dialogues of hero. You often get a feel that director want an Anniyan again!

The music and background score by A. R. Rahman do give the movie a fresh feeling. Costumes in the movie are mind blowing, especially for Amy and Vikram.

P. C. Sreeram the cinematographer did an exceptional job in the film especially in bringing the beauty of Chinese locations to Indian audience. Along with him Anthony did a magnificent job in editing this magnum opus.

There are three major fights in the movie where you once again find parallels with Anniyan. First at Gym between Lingesan and other body builders shows a lot of muscle power and is unique. Second at China show Lee fighting Chinese gundas not only on ground but also on roof tops with cycles. The third as he was kidnapped is dual with villains one after another.

Malayalam film Star Suresh Gopi as well as Sarathkumar appear in guest roles. Along with Santhanam as Babu who take care of comedy. Upen Patel as John,Ramkumar Ganesan as Indra Kumar andOjas Rajani as Osma the stylist who has a crush on Lee.
Also Azhagu play as Lingesan’s father and T. K. Kala portay the role of Lingesan’s mother. Unusual to Tamil movies Amy Jackson share a good amount of screen time with Vikram. Which is a good sign for Kollywood.

All together I will remind you about the beauty and beast fairy tale and entertain you. Yet don’t go for the movie if you found Anniyan boring. Also small children may not find it comfortable to see the hunchback and villains with prosthetic make up.
