Praveena is an Indian film and soap actress who started her acting career as a child artist in the movie Gowri. She has so far acted in about 50 malayalam movies apart from the many TV serials, ads and telefilms.
The much acclaimed movie Agnisakshi gained her the prestigious Kerala State Film Award for the Second best actress for her performance as ‘Thankam’. Praveena’s role in Oru Pennum Randaanum directed by Adoor gopalakrishnan had also gained her the Kerala State Film Award for the Second best actress. Praveena is loved for her roles in movies like Vasanthiyum lakshmiyum pinne njanum, Saphalyam etc. Her performance in TV serials like Swapnam, Megham have also been received heartfully by the audience.
Praveena who is also a dancer and a singer has been judge to popular reality shows like Mummy & Me, Comedy Stars and Star Singer. She also lend her voice for actresses such as Kavya Madhavan in Mizhi Randilum and Sadanandante Samayam, Jyothirmayi in Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum, etc. She received the Kerala state award for dubbing for Electra (2010) and Ivan Megharoopan (2012).
