Njaan Malayalam Movie Review

Njaan Malayalam Movie Review

Njan directed by Renjith with Dulqar Salmaan as a blogger and K.T.N Kottoor is more of an art movie than commercial. Unlike Palerimanikyam Renjith may not be able to attract many viewers for this movie. Yet that doesn’t mean that is will disappoint a serious movie goer.

As the blogger in the movie says this movie is an attempt to say that even unknown and failed people have a history worthy to be narrated.

K. T. N. Kottoor is a failed Gandhian and today the blogger and his friends try to re-enact his story on stage. They follow and discuss the life of K.T.N. from childhood onwards. And this make the whole story line. Renjith once again follow non linear narrative, and use some of the same techniques he used in Palerimanikyam. And there is nothing to keep you at the edge of the seat, except some late realizations and developments of relationships. The movie have political under tones and social criticism too.

The back ground score contribute much to the movie. Costume design and art direction are well done. The long list of heroines play their roles reasonably well. Performance by Shutter fame Sajitha Madathil as Kurathi Kunjuli is worth mentioning. Also Sruthi Ramachandran, Anumol and Muthimani do their roles well. Unlike the posters Joy Mathew don’t play any pivotal role in the film even though he looks like a mentor to the blogger.

If you love art for arts sake, you may watch this movie.
