Karimkunnam Sixes Review

Karingunnam Sixes is a 2016 Malayalam film directed by Deepu Karunakaran, starring Manju Warrier and Anoop Menon in lead roles. Touted to be a sports drama, the film features an ensemble supporting cast that includes filmmakers Shyamaprasad and Major Ravi.

The Story the film is Aby and Vandhana are a married couple, who are volleyball players by profession. Aby is a coach who is planning to set up a new team with prisoners, called Karinkunnam 6s.But, he meets with an accident and Vandhana is forced to take over the charge of the team. How she trains the team and how they wins a prestigious match, forms the crux of the story.

The script by Arunlal Ramachandran aptly captures the energy and passion that makes the game, explores the highs and lows, twists and turns, good and ugly sides of the game and throws them around intelligently, in a manner that throughout the around two and half hour long duration, there is never a dull moment you are disengaged. I am told the climactic stages of the movie, the volleyball game was shot like a live match and that’s exactly how it reflected on screen.

Director Deepu Karunakaran succeeds in setting a pace for the script that fits the adrenaline rush and intensity that defines a game of volleyball .K6’s has a long cast – Anoop Menon, Manju Warrier, Babu Antony, Baiju, Sudheer Karamana, Nandhu and Jacob Gregory and a couple of ‘surprise appearances’, but its Suraj Venjaramoodu who has chosen to ‘surprise’ us again after ‘Action Hero Biju’ with another short and impactful performance.Rahul Raj’s background complements the adrenaline pumping mood of K6’s.

Totally it’s a Strong Thriller Give You Good Mood.. Worth a watch.
