Innocent is the au fait actor of witty mannerisms. The multifaceted actor who with innumerable characters has won hearts is now also an MP from Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency. Innocent who entered the Malayalam industry with the movie Nrityashala in the year 1972 is an actor known for his humour which has an amount of childishness in it and his diction in the typical Thrissur accent. He has been the president of AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes) for four consecutive terms.
Innocent was born on 28 February 1948, in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur. In the long span of his career he has acted in more than 500 movies each of which has a lot to speak about the actor.
While the theatre owner Mannar Mathai in Ramji Rao Speaking and Mannar Mathai Speaking has been a character which became so attached with the audience-psyche, the confused and bewildered Iravikutti in Chandralekha was a careful compilation of vivid and profound acting abilities. Kilukkam, Manichithrathazhu, Godfather, Vietnam Colony, Kabooliwala, Mithunam, Devasuram are some among the many movies which have Innocent appearing in roles that can never be erased from the memory of Malayalam movie audiences.
Innocent published his memoir Njan Innocent in the year 2011. Chirikku Pinnil and Cancer Wardile Chiri are other books by the actor which in the autobiographical mode, talk about the life, work and experiences of one of Malayalam’s ever looked upon actors.
