Bahubali First Movie Review

Bahubali is another miracle from S.S.Rajamouli who is a creator of many great films in Telugu. This time he directed the film simultaneously in 4 languages including Malayalam. The movie is a spectacle to watch on Big screen. This big budget movie is produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni. What you will get to watch is the first part of the whole movie.

Opening sequence show a lady who looks like a queen saving a new born child from being killed by the hands of blood thirsty soldiers who are following them. She even lay down her life to save the child from death and consecrate the boy Bahubali to Lord Siva. The child was saved by a small tribe living near a waterfall.

The boy grows up with the name Siva (Prabhas). He always want to climb the muntain of waterfall. During his heroic act of fixing a Sivalingam near waterfall he get a mask. This assures him that what his mother is telling is a lie and there are people up above.

Following a dream where his dream girl – owner of the mask – he climb up to find that Avantika (Tamanna) is a die hard fighter for her clan. Later his attempts to win her heart leads him to a kingdom where his mother is chained. And slowly more of the story unfolds.

Satyaraj’s character Kattappa is a faithful slave of his master. Devasena ( Anushka) is the mother of Bahubali, waiting for her son to come and rescue her. Rana Daggubati is the cruel king Palvaalthevan. Prabhas himself play Bahubali senior and Junior. This movie offers many sub plots and surprises on the go.

Songs are also very much interesting. Even though in some places translation glitches are there, we can enjoy the movie for breath taking visuals. Visual effects are great even though some places the expected perfection has not reached.

P. M. Satheesh worked meticulously to create the sound, which plays a major role in the Theatre experience. Madhan Karky is the one who contributed dialogues for Tamil. Peter Hein played the role in developing the fight sequences. K. K. Senthil Kumar did the cinematography for Rajamouli, who used digital camera for the first time to shoot a film.

Bahubali is a true period movie, even the language used is carefully crafted. Also for Malayali viewers it will be a surprise to see a Telugu movie with very little illogical sequences.

It is amust watch if you like period movies. And the story doesn’t end here… To be continued in 2016.
